My background

I hold a 5-years BSc in Theoretical Physics, studied in the Complutense University of Madrid, the University of Vienna and the University of Barcelona. After my Bachelor I studied a 2-years MSc in Artificial Intelligence, focusing in Machine Learning. I am currently studying my PhD in Theoretical Neuroscience under the supervision of Dr. Emili Balaguer-Ballester and Dr. André Rupp here at Bournemouth University and in collaboration with Heidelberg University.

My PhD project

In my PhD project we are trying to devise theoretical aspects of the cortical dynamics of pitch perception. We use biophysically plausible models based on neural theory to explain psychophysical and electrophysiological results on the perception of pitch, pursuing a deeper understanding on the neural mechanisms underlying pitch processing.

My research interests

I am interested in how behaviour emerges from complex dynamical systems. Specifically, I am trying to understand how cognition arises as a collective neural behaviour in cortical systems.

I am also interested in Machine Learning, specifically in the overlapping of ML with Information Theory and in Artificial Neural Networks. For my Master's Thesis I developed a method based in ICA to find discriminant regions in fMRI data, and I am still continuing this work in my spare time.
