Call for Papers Special Session on: Robust Adaptive Soft Sensors To be held in the framework of the: 2nd IFAC International Conference on Intelligent Control Systems and Signal Processing 21-23 September 2009, Istanbul,Turkey Session Organisers: Bogdan Gabrys & Petr Kadlec

Despite the numerous publications dealing with soft sensors (Google Scholar finds more than 3000 publications including the term ?soft sensor?), so far there has been no conference or special session dedicated to this topic. The goal of this special session is therefore to create a platform for the presentation and discussion of the latest developments within the soft sensor research topic. The particular emphasis will be put on tackling current challenges including automatic ways of dealing with data noise and impurity, adaptation to changing environments, etc. which have not yet been solved by modern soft sensors.
Since the main topic of this conference is the application of computational intelligence techniques to industrial problems, this special session also focuses on the application of data-driven (i.e. computational intelligence and statistical) methods for among others on-line prediction, process monitoring and sensor/process fault detection as well as novel and non-traditional applications of soft sensors.

The main topics of the special session will be:

* Soft sensors and inferential control
* Soft sensors for on-line prediction
* Soft sensors for process monitoring
* Soft sensors for process and sensor fault detection
* Adaptive and evolving Soft Sensors
* Soft sensors dealing with impure and noisy data
* Advanced applications of computational learning methods to soft sensing
* Advanced applications of statistical methods to soft sensing
