Psychology Research Group

We have expertise in a number of areas and welcome the opportunity to collaborate with industry, charities and other agencies in research or to provide support via consultancy.

Occupational psychology

We are able to help companies if they wish to deal with a variety of issues in the workplace including, for example, stress at work and improving the fit between skills and jobs.

Wayfinding, cognition & attention

A small team from Psychology has considerable expertise in enhancing

  • wayfinding in complex environments
  • visual cues for complex decision making
  • directing attention to reach goals.

Environment & sustainability

The impact of the way that we live is increasingly being felt by our environment. Researchers in Psychology are currently working with industry and care agencies to help to examine the following:

  • creating ‘green’ behaviour in today's society
  • creating restorative environments to aid wellbeing

Educational & lifespan development

We are able to provide bespoke short courses to help with CPD, to collaborate to with education authorities to evaluate the efficacy of teaching interventions. Our areas of expertise are:

  • reading & dyslexia
  • autism and language
  • brain training in older adults
  • widening participation

Clinical psychology

This academic year saw the commencement of our MSc in Foundations of Clinical Psychology. We have particular expertise in post traumatic stress disorder; emotional processing of life events and Alzheimer's disease.
