E-zines aim to boost PG recruitment

In an attempt to boost postgraduate enrolments this autumn, the Marketing Team has produced PG E-zines for each postgraduate course. These email newsletters has been sent to all postgraduate applicants and are course-specific. The aim of this campaign is to maintain contact with applicants before the start of term, make them feel welcome and encourage them to take up their place on the course which they have applied for.

Subject Insight Days

The Education Liaison Team are working closely with colleagues in DEC to organise a series of recruitment events called 'Subject Insight Days' over the coming months.

These events are designed to allow students and teachers from our target schools and colleges to experience some of BU's subjects, first hand. This year is the first time we've run events like this so we thought you might like to find out how well received these have been to date. Having had success with Subject Insight Days in Health and Social Care and Tourism so far, we are looking forward to the following events which will involve DEC:

June 27th
FoDI Schools and Colleges Day -
With over 135 Year 11 and 12 students from 7 different institutions attending, this event is on track to be a great success. This is the first time the Education Liaison team has looked after this particular event, which Aimhigher have hosted in previous years. This year sees a more obvious recruitment drive with activities on the day including academic talks, campus tours and of course time to explore the festival itself.

July 10th
Computing Subject Insight Day -
We intend to welcome 96 students to Talbot Campus for this event, to explore the new Computing framework and to experience some of the vital interactive elements of our Computing courses at BU.

Sept 25th
Creative Technology Subject Insight Day -
This event will be showcasing courses like Computer Animation and Visualisation, Music and Audio Technology and Interactive Media Production, aiming to provide students with an insight into the range of course options available to them within this diverse subject area. Invites are set to go out following a Teacher Update Day in Creative Technology on 10th June.

June 10th
Teacher Update Day
- We will be welcoming 15 teachers to BU for the Teacher Update Day in June and they will enjoy a programme of seminars led by academic colleagues, the intention being that they pass on positive feedback to their students.
